We have been working together to come up with our school’s Core Values. It all started with a tree…
Mrs Hurst (with Mrs Mason-Brown’s help) put a tree up in the library and everyone was then invited to write a value, they thought was important to our school, on a leaf and add it to a branch on the tree.
From here, Mrs Hurst met with a group of Year 4 children and they sorted through all of the suggestions, whittling it down to the final five
We then held a competition for the best design to represent our Core Values. In Reception and Year 1, the children had to choose one of the values and draw a picture to demonstrate what their chosen core value means. Years 2-5 had to design a logo to encompass all five core values. These are the winners from each class as well as the overall winning design created by Mark Zitnik. These are displayed just outside the school office
This was the winning design chosen by Mrs Hurst and Mrs Roberts.
The Year 4 team met once again, this time to decide upon an accompanying ethos statement for the school. They came up with some super suggestions which Mrs Hurst took to the teachers and Mrs Roberts. We decided that, “Learn, Play and Grow Together” explains perfectly what we think is important to achieve during our time at Swan Lane First School.
